A very common question I am asked from first timers is,"Is there anything I should do before my service?". The answer is, yes. The hair must be longer than a grain of long grain of rice. This is to ensure all the hair is pulled out effectively without breakage. If your hair is too short, you will be advised that it is best for you to reschedule and come back when the hair is long enough. It is also best you do not shave the area for at least 2 weeks before your appointment. If you would like to go the extra mile for maximum results, you may start exfoliating 3-4 times a week until your appointment. Do not exfoliate the day before or the day of your wax. If you are on your menstrual cycle, please come prepared with a tampon inserted. The service will NOT be completed without one. If that is not possible, you will be asked to reschedule when your cycle is over. For underams, you may come with deodorant already applied to the area. For larger body parts, do not use any lotions or oils at least 4 hours before your appointment. Please come freshly showered for any and all body services. If that is not possible, we may offer you a wipe before hand. Please notify me if you have any allergies, are using acne medications, or if you have had chemical peels or laser peels done recently.

Some of the most common things I advise my clients to do after getting waxed is exfoliate, treat, and moisturize. Exfoliation can be preformed 3-4 times a week while waxing. Waxing is also a form of exfoliation so it is important you do not exfoliate the area the day of or the day after getting waxed. Over exfoliating can cause irritation and breakouts. If you suffer from ingrowns, which is not uncommon, the first thing to try is exfoliating. If you do not see improvements within a certain timeframe, move on to treatment. This includes serums for ingrowns, bumps, and breakouts. If you have dry skin, it is recommended that you use a fragrance-free moisturizer in the area. Please apply your serum before moisturizing. For 24 hours after waxing it is advised that you do not swim, exercise, or have intercourse to avoid over sweating and irritation. For underarms, it is safe to apply deodorant a few hours after your service once any and all redness has subsided. For bikini services it is always best you wear cotton underwear to avoid friction. Over time you will notice your hair become thinner, softer, more sparse, and take longer to grow back. This is normal and one of the benefits of consistent waxing! For best results it is recommended to come in every 2-4 weeks for your service.

Disclaimer

Your post-wax care is what makes or breaks your results. 75% of your waxing results comes from post care. If you are not willing to help your skin do its best job at renewing itself, please do not have high expectations. I will do everything that is possible on my end to give you amazing results, in return I ask you give your skin the best treatment possible. Not every clients skin is the same, therefore, not every piece of advice I offer fits every clients needs. If you have an underlying medical condition that is affecting or is being affected by waxing, please consult with a physician. Your health is most important to me. For best ongoing results, do NOT shave any area that is being waxed. Shaving makes hair grow back thicker and darker, reversing the process of waxing. Do not waste your time and money investing in waxing just to ruin it by shaving.  I ask that you are always honest with your skin care routine as it helps me create the best regime for your needs.
